Mobile Application UI/UX Prototype
Film company off hand co developed a mobile application that aligned with their mission of providing opportunities and emphasizing diversity behind and in front of the camera. The application is designed to focus on connecting like-minded creative individuals.
The Project:
Off Hand Co, an inclusive female-owned film company, sought a modern and professional website design that remained true to their unique identity.
Objectives:
Project Sharing: Users can share their film/video work, referred to as "production," with the community. Each production includes an image gallery, description and video clips.
Production Status and Roles: Productions indicate whether they are in pre-production, production or post-production stages. Users can specify the jobs they are looking to fill for each stage.
Discover Tab: A dedicated tab where users can explore and discover new projects. Features include a daily spotlight on a selected project and filters based on criteria such as location, genre and production stage.
Challenges:
A challenge faced was developing an app that aligned with the mission of promoting inclusivity and encouraging use by individuals who are often under-represented in the industry. One key aspect was offer extensive customization features, allowing users to tailor their portfolios according to their unique preferences and needs. It also was important to integrate gender-inclusive options. Balancing these objectives required thoughtful design considerations.
Outcome:
Wire framing this application was a great exercise in incorporating UX concepts such as usability, accessibility, performance, and emotional engagement into the UI elements.
It was important to highlight the relevance of keeping the mobile application visually appealing and intuitive to use while remaining consistent to the overall design language, brand identity and company objectives.
